Senate Bill 307 was passed by the Legislature and signed by the governor in 2017, repealing the existing Quality Schools Program administered by the Department of Commerce. The program was replaced through a new fund created within the Coal Tax (Senate Bill 260), and will provide infrastructure funding to school districts using a formula administered by the Office of Public Instruction. None of the Quality Schools projects proposed in House Bill 14, House Bill 645 or Senate Bill 367 were funded by the Legislature and the provisions of Senate Bill 307 means that no applications for Quality Schools grants will be accepted during the coming biennium. As a result, administrative funds appropriated to the Department for the Quality Schools program were reduced to zero.
The archived library of Montana school Facility Condition Inventory (FCI) reports are available here. This archived library will assist schools with updates to the FCI as required by SB 307.
